IRONWORKERS (STEEL & CONCRETE PRECAST ERECTION)
Ironworkers employed by our company are responsible for the erection of structural
steel and precast concrete panels. Duties include unloading, rigging, sorting
and lifting the metal pieces and precast panels to be installed. During the
course of their duties, ironworkers are frequently required to climb up portions
of the structure and work suspended in air in awkward positions welding and
attaching the members being erected. As a part of this process, the ironworkers
regularly lift and carry loads weighing from 50 - 75 pounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS PROFILE:
1. Rigging loads, and flagging/signaling crane.
2. Climbing various heights, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching overhead.
3. Repetitive use of hands, wrists and legs.
4. Use of various tools, including wrenches, welding leads and oxygen/gas
cutting rigs.
5. Lifting and carrying loads of 50 - 75 pounds.
6. Lifting loads of 75 pounds.
7. Pushing and/or pulling suspended loads of various weights, up to 150 pounds.
8. Crawling.
9. Tolerating exposure to dust & chemicals, welding flames, heat &
cold.
10. Hearing commands from supervisors and backing-up safety alarms on
equipment.
